| and elaborated on them throughout the posts concerning this failure. The only problem with your logic is the fact that only 1 rod bearing failed and the rest of them are in really good shape. The other 5 bearing sets show no signs of severe abuse, and they have seen considerable use and demand. The picture I posted of my old rod bearings after knowing their history of dealing with detonation, and seeing the wear distributed across the bearings in a very distinctive pattern leads me to believe my original assumption - that being if it were from overboosting, aggressive tuning, or any of the like of which you are suggesting, we should see wear on all of the cylinders. It is all too obvious that only this one cylinder was either detonating (which eliminates the possibility of it being the tuner or the operator and would suggest a weak injector) or there was a machining error on journal #4. This failure would have had nothing to do with oil contamination from the turbo failure either, as particles in the oil would have affected all of the bearings. Any debris from the turbos would have made their way only down the turbo oil return line into the oil pan and the oil filter would have captured a large majority of any particles big enough to cause serious damage anyway. So this is definately not what happened. Tomorrow is another day - get some sleep and I'll see you then.
